Once again we are “on the move”. We made our home for the past 6 months in southeast Arizona just outside Bisbee in an RV Park, Double Adobe. It was a quiet area with just a few ‘fly overs’ from the military base in Sierra Vista. The RV park was nice with some trees, grass in the spring, summer and fall, a club house with a TV (for me to watch “Scandal” – sadly now over), showers and a laundry facility also a book lending library. The owners were friendly and often put on potluck dinners for all of the holidays and impromptu get togethers’. Several times local musicians would come to entertain all us ‘snow birds’.
The park was a haven for birds, which we thoroughly enjoyed feeding and watching their antics. We even saw a Cardinal several times, which was a highlight for us. There was a group of deer (about 20) that wandered in and out trying to find the last bit of green and when spring started to happen, they munched on the new leaves breaking out on the trees. Also present, were the Javelina’s that would come after the deer and root around for leftover grass.
The Pink Store
To relieve our restless spirits of being in one place for so long, we took our annual pilgrimage to “The Pink Store” in Palomas, Mexico. We wanted to see what new, dazzling, festive items were in store this time. As it turns out, they were remodeling, so selections were limited… We did, however, leave our annual ‘dues’ (in terms of purchased items) and enjoyed their wonderful Mexican lunch out on the patio, complete with Margaritas!!!
We took several trips to Portal, AZ which is home to Cave Creek, one of MY favorite places on earth… and becoming one of Patti’s favorites also. When we left Double Adobe, we went to Cave Creek and “dry camped” for 2 weeks and enjoyed nature at Her finest. No electricity: so we could see the stars, the New Moon and the Full Moon shining on the Big Dipper, which was upside down there. I tried to take pictures of the Full Moon, but that is a skill I will have to work more on!!!
I will put just a couple of pictures of our beloved Cave Creek Canyon, for as you all know, I cannot resist taking pictures of rocks.
Next we traveled west to Sierra Vista to get some Viagra for my hat… LOL! I bought a felt wool hat for our British Isles Cruise in July and I was afraid the brim would be too weak to withstand the rains of Scotland and Ireland. I found a place in Sierra Vista that would apply some product that would, hopefully, keep the brim up while overseas. It DID work and now I am all set for inclement weather (which is relative, I’m sure).
Parker Canyon Lake
Patti, the researcher, found (through her picking up all the brochures she can,) this little gem of a place… “Parker Canyon Lake” south and east of Sierra Vista. It is a 46 mile journey from Sierra Vista. As the crow flies, it is about 20 miles, but we can’t go through the local military base so we must go round and round, up and down… but WELL worth the trip. We will leave on the 6th of May and stay for 2 weeks, again out in the boonies. Of course that means, no electricity, dark skies, a 130 acre lake and peace ‘n’ quiet. We will be able to see the stars again and watch the Big Dipper pour her bounty out upon all camped there. The other thing that we won’t have is internet or phone service. So….. we will be incommunicado for 2 weeks. If you need us, leave a phone message and we will get back to you, as soon as we hit civilization again…
More on Parker Canyon Lake when we finish exploring!
Thanks for hanging in there with us!!!

Woot, woot! Travel safely and continue to enjoy the journey to “home”.
