Abiquiu, New Mexico

We are back from Juarez and all is well.

We are in Abiquiu where Ghost Ranch is.  We arrived about 5 pm tonight.  It was a long drive from Alamogordo, NM pulling the RV.  We are so glad that the weather is a bit cooler 89 degrees which is down from 104 just late last week.  On our way down to Alamogordo we stopped in Santa Rosa for 1 night and it was SOOOOOOO hot and buggy.  The next night we stopped at Three Rivers same ‘hotness’ but a bit less buggy.  We tried to find the campground where the petroglyphs were and we got on a dirt road and then came to a ‘Y’ in the road and no sign as to which way to the campground (and I might add, not much turn-around room).  Long story short, we finally had to back up at the ‘Y’ and turn around.  This was the first time we have had to back up the truck with the RV attached.  We also had to cross a river, that was dry, but it had rained earlier.  I thought it was iffy to cross the river bed, but we did it anyway.  The sign said “do not enter if water is present”, made me nervous, ‘cause the dirt was wet!  We survived and I decided NO MORE DIRT ROADS longer than .5 miles!!!

We are now chilling’ at Riana Dam (built by the Army Corps of Engineers) just outside Abiquiu at the Abiquiu Lake.  Tomorrow we will see the sights and go to Ghost Ranch.  Pictures to follow.
