Left San Luis Lake Campground around 9ish, as we were going through Alamosa, we fueled Gypsy up; got a few supplies AND a Starbucks (last one for at least a week, sorry Patti) and headed south on 285 through Antonito, CO, waving to Tres Piedras, NM, sailing by Ojo Caliente and landing at Riana Campground by the Riana Dam built by the Army Corps of Engineers. If you have a Federal Senior Pass you camp for half price, THAT is nice.
Riana Campground is such a great place. The weather is superb; 80’s in the daytime, and 50’s in the evening and into the night. We find ourselves in lighter attire by mid-morning and throughout the day, then sweats or robes by early evening. There is also the ever-vigilant wind making sure all is tied down; “if it ain’t nailed down…” This time of year the lake color is vibrant peacock blue, pressed against the red clay bluffs, then nestled under a canopy of vibrant blue sky sometimes dotted with white fluffy clouds… stunning!

I usually walk around with my camera in the morning and in the afternoon, waiting for the soft time of day to photograph, when the ‘light’ is also soft.

See you on the next post…
Thanks for the update. So you are by Abique lake? Annie
