Abiquiu Dam Recreation Area

Coming back from our Pedernal sojourn we searched for a shady spot to have our picnic lunch. We remembered the Abiquiu Dam Recreation Area. We found the perfect spot with shade and a picnic table right by the river. It was a steep ride down to the bottom of the dam but well worth the drive. The rock formations along the river were beautiful; again we are awed by the force and power of the wind and water that raced through this mini canyon eons ago.
